EL TEATRO

The Teatro Alcala first opened to a performance of Aida in 1909.

It is a remarkable example of the Porfiro Diaz era Romantic architecture. We were lucky enough to arrive just when an operatic performance was about to start so we saw not only the performance- but also the interior of this building.

The story was about local hero Benito Juarez and the War against France (Emperor Maximillian)  in 1865.
