HACIENDAS 3

February 14, 2020 by admin

THE HACIENDA El LENCERO near Xalapa was originally built for one of Cortez’ soldiers (Senor Lencero) in the 1500’s and later in the 1800’s became the home of General (and President) Santa Ana. It is now a museum with extensive grounds

Below the beautiful interior of the chapel.

HACIENDA GALINDO

…..is a few miles south of Queretaro and is a beautifully restored hacienda and now a first class boutique hotel. Such is the happy fate of many an old hacienda in Mexico. This one is huge and probably added onto after a hotel chain took it over. According to legend, Hernán Cortés gave this 16th century hacienda to Malinche- his native girlfriend as a gift.
