WATERFALLS

February 18, 2020 by admin

EL SALTO

In the foothills of the Sierra Madre in the shade of snow capped Mount Orizaba are several waterfalls that cascade through green jungle. Two we saw are near Xalapa. First- El Salto which actually means the waterfall.

It was the location for the film Romancing The Stone

The second Texolo Falls where we were able to wander back along deserted paths through the forest.

Below- The remains of a bridge that once crossed a chasm.

Along the trail side streams entering the main course.

One of our group cooling off in the waters.

(Above)- Bananas growing everywhere. (Below) Feeling hungry ?

No instead we went to nearby Xico which had this delightful restaurant that featured a living wall.

Below- The town of Xico from the steps of the church

In these modest towns sit the most extravagant color full edifices.
