The churches in this part of the world are VERY colourfull and almost look like one could eat them.
The town of Catamaco is a tourist town by the side of lake of same name famous for it’s “brujas”- though I never came across one.
Above the town church.
The interior was even more colorfull.
Restoration was in progress.
Back in the coastal plain is TLACOTAPLAN perhaps the most colorfull town in Mexico.
It once was on an island but now sits beside a wide river that empties into the Gulf.
Above decoration on a bench. Below- The main plaza.
Below another church one could eat. Looks like they are made of sugar frosting.
Above -There is a very old theatre in this town and I wondered in. A family was up on the stage with their young son who played his part well by posing for me.
Festivities were winding up in the town after Candlearia (Feb 2nd) and this troupe of folk dancers were about to take the stage.
Below- Floor tiles come in many colours and patterns.
