Alvord Desert
The ghost town of Blitzen in the Catlow Valley
Out on the prairie west of Frenchglen in the Catlow Valley sits the ghost town remains of Blitzen. Its post office was opened in 1916. However, there were only three families left in in 1924 and by 1928, there were fewer than 100 people living in the entire valley. The Blitzen post office closed in 1943.
