Lucca is unique in preserving it’s medieval walls that surround the old town. The walls now are a park with bicycle paths and great views down into the labyrinth of streets.

Above-The Guinigi Tower, a 45-metre-tall (150 ft) tower that dates from the 1300s.
Lucca is the birthplace of composers Giacomo Puccini (La Bohème and Madama Butterfly), Nicolao Dorati, Francesco Geminiani, Gioseffo Guami, Luigi Boccherini, and Alfredo Catalani. It is also the birthplace of artist Benedetto Brandimarte.
In the 1990´s the pointed shoe was di riguer.
