JILQUILPAN (Hee Quill Pan) sits at the east end of Lake Chapala in the State It is is the birthplace of two presidents of the republic: Anastasio Bustamante, who served as President on three occasions in the mid-19th century and Lazaro Cardenas in the early 2oth century.
It is a clean and prosperous small town with many beautiful colonial buildings and public places.
Such as the main church La Parroquia de San Francisco de Asís which is beautifully colored and maintained building built in the XVI century.

On the way to Jilquilpan one passes by Petatan on the shores of Lake Chapala where many Pelicans gather. (Probably because there is a fish processing plant there )
