THE CITY OF ROCKS-IDAHO
Silence is common here which is why it is also called The Silent City.









The granite has eroded into a fascinating assortment of shapes and faces and animals can be seen on almost every rock.








The Shoshone camped here because Buffalo herds once roamed freely through this area and nearby valleys. Hunters tracked these huge animals using bows, spears, and smart hunting methods before they got horses
During the 1840’s and 50’s emigrants traveling along the California Trail passed this way into Nevada to the south.


Names or initials of emigrants written in axle grease are still visible on Register Rock, and ruts from wagon wheels can be seen in some of the rocks.
